One of the most important details of choosing your wardrobe is choosing the most flattering colors. You want to choose the most flattering colors that will enhance your individual skin tone. Here are a few tips to help you make those choices.
Determine Your Skin Tone and Clothing Colors
Choose which “season” is most closely associated with your skin tone. Skin tones and people can be divided into these seasons — winter, spring, summer and fall — by individual skin tone. Here’s how the seasons and skin tones breakdown
Winter complexions have pink and/or blue undertones. People with winter complexions have, yellowish-olive, pale white or dark tones. They are generally brunettes with darkly colored eyes. Many African Americans and Asians are winter colors. Winters should choose clothing colors that are stark and clear, and avoid subdued tones.
Summer is similar to winter coloring with these people having pink or blue undertones. Summer people are usually naturally blonde with pale colored eyes. Summers should choose neutrals and pastels, and avoid colors such as orange and black.
Gold undertones are a feature of autumn complexions. These people are usually brunettes and redheads with gold, brown eyes. Clothing for autumns should feature gold undertones such as camel and golds.
Golden undertones are also a part of the spring complexion group. The skin tone is usually peach or creamy white, and the hair is strawberry red or straw colored. This group should wear warmer colors such as peach and golden yellow, and should avoid dark colors.
